PropertyCast had an existing product in need of not only a fresh coat of paint but also a reimagined UX to resolve a number of user pain points. We worked with their founder to understand the goals of their investor user base and shortlisted a number of improvement areas.

We wireframed the critical user paths focusing on a few high value improvements centred around: a wholesale re-design of the dashboard, usability tuneups to the worksheet screens, re-imagined analysis and property summary screens.

A New Dashboard

A New Dashboard

The existing dashboard didn't feel much like a dashboard, lacking a clear sense of direction, education for new users, and didn't communicate the value of the product. We focused on adding helpful empty states, putting education front and centre, and a refer a friend feature to encourage growth.

Data Input & Analyses

Data Input & Analyses

The bulk of user pain points was centred around how data is inputed on the various worksheets and how the resulting analysis is displayed. Many input field groups lacked clear instruction or examples how and why they should be completed. The analysis summaries lacked visual hierarchy and didn't tell the story of BRRRR process in a clear way. Through many iterations and workshops we implemented a ton of improvements focused on better education, improved visual hierarchy and a focus on the stats that matter most.

We also tuned up the property overview screen. Out team felt strongly that this screen didn't communicate the importance of completing all three worksheets and the resulting value it unlocks. We implemented empty states that hint at the insights that can be uncovered as well as a new overall score that is unlocked once all three steps are complete.
