Venture Kamloops Website

Project Overview

Venture Kamloops is economic development arm of the City of Kamloops. Their goal is to attract, retain, develop and support business in Kamloops. They provide a number of programs, incentives and an array of pubic information to achieve these goals.

Venture Kamloops' Challenge

Venture Kamloops needed help in reorganizing and prioritizing content and pages on their website. They also needed way to update content and news articles in a timely manner and drive subscriptions to their future email newsletter. A transition from a fixed width layout to a fully responsive design was also required.

The Solution

After meeting with project stakeholders and Venture Kamloops staff our team developed a project plan and vision for Venture Kamloops' website. I helped develop the information architecture of the new website by prioritizing features and content based on analytics data and stakeholder requirements. I also helped provide guidance on UX/UI best practices during the design phase.

With the project vision and plan developed and approved I created high-fidelity mockups based on our wireframes, nav schema and sitemap diagrams. I then converted these static assets into a fully responsive html/css layout and integrated this into a content management system.

I helped deliver a much more effective organization of content, better navigation system and improved design and layout for various devices. Bounce rate was reduced and average time on the website increased. The new website also won a national and regional award for best economic development website in 2014.
